Initial drawing; it started out as a skull, but then an actual dragon head was decided on by the client.

Exploring with possible horns to use

Initial idea for the surrounding details; wilting roses and thorns.

The roses were kept, but the freeform thorns were scrapped in favour of something more unison.

Added colour and kept them both muted and limited so it wouldn't become too busy.

Client wanted more roses added, so they were! So many roses.
